History Club
All membership meetings are scheduled for the 1st Tuesday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Meetings begin at 5:45 pm.
Meetings are potlunck with heavy appetizers and dishes to pass served buffet style unless noted.

Membership meetings are on break for summer and will resume in September.

Tuesday, September 10, Welcome Back Picnic at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.
Mike Cooper, Executive Director, will talk about the Arboretum’s & East Sioux Falls’ history.  He will also talk about a new coffee table book “If Our Trees Could Talk” on the history and beauty of the trees of Sioux Falls.  (2nd Tuesday)

Tuesday, November 12 – In honor of Native American Heritage month, History Club members have the honor of meeting Sioux Falls Native American artist Jennifer White. Please gather at the History Club at 5:30 PM for charcuterie and beverages of your choice. At 6:15 PM we will caravan for a short drive to Post Pilgrim Gallery for a private art showing. (2nd Tuesday)

Tuesday, December 10Christmas Social – Open to all members and significant others – Glitz and Glam! (2nd Tuesday) It will be a festive evening with a White Elephant Gift Exchange! ($20 limit) Bring an Hors D’oeuvre to share and your favorite drink.

Tuesday, January 7 You Can Go Home Again: Leadership Lessons from Paper Routes, Platoons and Policy.  Some Cybersecurity info will also be discussed Speaker Andrea Thompson   –     Thompson is a South Dakota native with a long career in national security, foreign policy, intelligence, cyber and emerging technology, and strategic policy which includes serving over 25 years as an Army intelligence officer, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, serving as the Deputy Assistant to the President and National Security Advisor to the Vice President of the U.S., Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, and VP of International Programs at Northrop Grumman. Andrea Thompson is currently the CEO of Dakota State University Applied Research Corporation.
