History Club Fall 2024-Summer 2025
All membership meetings are scheduled for the 1st Tuesday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Meetings begin at 5:45 pm.
Meetings are potlunck with heavy appetizers and dishes to pass served buffet style unless noted.

Membership meetings are on break for summer and will resume in September.

Tuesday, September 10, Welcome Back Picnic at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.
Mike Cooper, Executive Director, will talk about the Arboretum’s & East Sioux Falls’ history.  He will also talk about a new coffee table book “If Our Trees Could Talk” on the history and beauty of the trees of Sioux Falls.  (2nd Tuesday)

Tuesday, November 12 – In honor of Native American Heritage month, History Club members have the honor of meeting Sioux Falls Native American artist Jennifer White.

Tuesday, December 10Christmas Social – Open to all members and significant others – Glitz and Glam! (2nd Tuesday) It will be a festive evening with a White Elephant Gift Exchange! ($20 limit) Bring an Hors D’oeuvre to share and your favorite drink.

Tuesday, March 4Damsel in Defense with Kim Weyer of North Dakota. Their mission is to equip, empower, and educate women to protect themselves and their families. Damsel Safety Educators are not only arming others but also offering empowerment and healing to those affected by assault.


 Tuesday, April 1Local Author Leah Simmons – Leah is a genre writer from South Dakota specializing in horror and sci-fi that ranges from the deep exploration of humanity’s darker nature to laugh out loud funny. Leah’s debut novel, THORNA, was released in 2024 with the follow-up book to be released in early 2025. Leah is also a screenwriter whose horror comedy WEREWOLVES CAN SUCK IT! was an Omaha Film Festival finalist in 2024. Leah made her debut as a filmmaker in 2021 with her roller derby thriller VALENTINE CRUSH
